VWFS UK is seeking a knowledgeable Data Protection Specialist to join our Legal & Compliance Team. You will ensure compliance with UK data protection laws, advise senior leaders, support the DPO, manage data-breach responses and drive improvement across the business.

You will lead DPIAs and ROPA maintenance, handle DSARs and regulator inquiries, and collaborate with stakeholders to strengthen privacy and compliance across VWFS UK.

Qualifications

• Provides data protection advice within Compliance/Legal functions at a specialist level.
• Excellent understanding of ICO guidance, codes and regulatory expectations in consumer credit or retail banking.
• Manages complex, time-sensitive workloads with precision and professionalism.
• Researches, analyzes and interprets complex regulatory information and presents it clearly.
• Challenges views and interprets regulatory guidance with accuracy and proportionality.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement, with influencing/negotiation skills.

Responsabilités

• Provide expert guidance to the business on UK Data Protection laws and regulatory changes.
• Support maintenance of Registers of Processing Activities (ROPA).
• Assist in undertaking Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).
• Lead assessment, oversight, and reporting of personal data breaches, including MI reporting to senior forums.
• Act as a key contact for front-line teams on DSARs, complaints and litigation matters related to data protection.
• Develop and execute second-line monitoring activities to assess compliance and drive improvements.
• Liaise with the ICO on customer complaints and regulatory inquiries, ensuring robust investigations and responses.
• Collaborate with Legal & Compliance colleagues across the business to resolve data protection issues.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data protection compliance and operational efficiency.
