Job summary

VWFS UK is seeking a knowledgeable Data Protection Specialist to join the Legal & Compliance Team. You will act as a trusted advisor on UK data protection, support the DPO in statutory duties, and lead initiatives from DPIAs to breach management.

You will liaise with ICO, oversee risk, and collaborate with business units to resolve data protection issues and drive continuous improvement in compliance and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Proven experience providing data protection advice within Compliance/Legal functions.
• Excellent understanding of ICO guidance, codes, regulatory expectations in consumer credit or retail banking.
• Ability to manage complex, time-sensitive workloads with precision and pragmatism.
• Ability to research, analyse, interpret and present regulatory information clearly.
• Comfortable challenging views and interpreting regulatory guidance accurately.
• Excellent communication with stakeholders and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on UK Data Protection laws and regulatory changes.
• Support maintenance of Registers of Processing Activities (ROPA).
• Assist in Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).
• Lead assessment, oversight, and reporting of personal data breaches, including MI reporting.
