Job summary

VWFS UK is seeking a knowledgeable Data Protection Specialist to join our Legal & Compliance Team. You will advise on UK data protection laws, manage DPIAs, ROPA registers and breaches, and support the DPO in statutory duties across the business.

You will act as a trusted point of contact for frontline teams on DSARs, complaints and regulatory inquiries, driving improvements in data protection and privacy across VWFS UK.

Qualifications

• Proven data protection advisory experience within Compliance/Legal at a specialist level.
• Excellent understanding of ICO guidance and regulatory expectations.
• Ability to manage complex, time-sensitive workloads with pragmatism and professionalism.
• Strong research, analysis, interpretation and presentation of regulatory information.
• Comfortable challenging views and interpreting guidance with accuracy and proportionality.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement to influence decisions.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on UK Data Protection laws and regulatory changes.
• Support the maintenance of Registers of Processing Activities (ROPA).
• Assist in undertaking Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).
• Lead assessment, oversight, and reporting of personal data breaches and MI reporting.
• Act as a key contact for DSARs, complaints and litigation matters related to data protection.
• Develop and execute second-line monitoring activities to assess compliance.
• Liaise with the ICO on customer complaints and regulatory inquiries.
• Collaborate with Legal & Compliance to resolve privacy-related issues.
• Drive continuous improvement in data protection compliance and operations.
