Job summary

TP Tutors, part of Teaching Personnel, is seeking dedicated 1:1 tutors to provide personalised tuition across Northampton and surrounding areas. Sessions may occur at pupils' homes, schools or community settings, mainly during school hours.

We offer flexible part-time and full-time opportunities with travel between locations. You will deliver tailored lessons, track progress, and build strong relationships with pupils, families and schools.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years' UK teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Experience working with children or young people.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, or reliable travel arrangements.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and personalised 1:1 tuition based on each pupil's individual needs.
  • Plan and deliver lessons appropriate to the pupil's age, ability and learning objectives.
  • Support pupils across subjects including English, Maths and other curriculum areas, depending on your experience.
  • Adapt teaching strategies and resources to suit different learning styles and abilities.
  • Monitor pupil progress and complete session reports.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with pupils, families and schools.
  • Encourage pupils to develop confidence, resilience, independence and a positive attitude towards learning.
  • Create a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support pupils to work towards their individual learning targets.

Are you an experienced teacher or tutor passionate about supporting children and young people to reach their full educational potential?

TP Tutors, part of Teaching Personnel, is looking for dedicated 1:1 Tutors to provide personalised tuition to pupils across Northampton and the surrounding areas. Sessions may take place in pupils’ homes, schools or suitable community settings, primarily during school hours.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils who may require additional educational support, helping them build confidence, re-engage with learning and make meaningful academic progress.

Pay

Competitive pay depending on experience, qualifications, pupil needs and the tuition assignment.

Working Pattern
  • Flexible part-time and full-time opportunities.
  • Tuition delivered during school hours, Monday to Friday.
  • Long-term and ongoing tuition assignments available.
  • Travel between tuition locations may be required.

Must-Have Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years' UK teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Experience working with children or young people.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum.
  • Excellent communication, behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, or reliable travel arrangements.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
  • QTS, PGCE or another recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience delivering personalised or 1:1 tuition.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND or additional learning needs.
  • Experience working in schools, alternative provision or pupils' homes.
  • Knowledge and understanding of EHCPs and individual learning plans.

Location

This role is primarily based across Northampton and surrounding areas, with tuition locations dependent on individual pupil requirements.
