Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd (TP Tutors) are seeking experienced and committed 1:1 Tutors to provide personalised educational support to children and young people across Bedford and the surrounding areas.

As a 1:1 Tutor you will deliver tuition across Primary, Secondary and GCSE levels, align with the UK National Curriculum, adapt lessons to learners' needs, support SEND and EHCPs, monitor progress and maintain session reports.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of UK teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Experience delivering the UK National Curriculum.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Legal right to work in the UK.

Help a Learner Move Forward

TP Tutors is seeking experienced and committed 1:1 Tutors to provide personalised educational support to children and young people across Bedford and the surrounding areas.

This is an excellent opportunity for teachers and tutors who enjoy working on an individual basis and adapting their approach to suit the needs of each learner.

Assignments may involve supporting pupils who are unable to access mainstream education, need additional academic intervention, or have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs or an EHCP.

What You'll Be Responsible For

As a 1:1 Tutor, you will:

  • Deliver engaging tuition across Primary, Secondary and GCSE levels.
  • Teach in line with the UK National Curriculum.
  • Plan and adapt lessons according to each learner's ability, needs, interests and learning style.
  • Provide targeted academic support and intervention.
  • Support pupils with SEND, SEMH needs and EHCPs.
  • Use creative and flexible teaching methods to improve engagement and motivation.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with learners.
  • Create a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment.
  • Encourage confidence, independence and positive attitudes towards education.
  • Manage behaviour appropriately and respond to individual challenges with patience.
  • Monitor progress and maintain clear and accurate session reports.
  • Work collaboratively with schools, Local Authorities, parents/carers and other professionals.
  • Adapt your teaching as the learner's needs and progress develop.
What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements
  • At least 2 years of UK teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Experience delivering the UK National Curriculum.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent patience, adaptability and organisational skills.
  • Effective behaviour-management abilities.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with young people from a range of backgrounds.
  • Legal right to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
Desirable Experience
  • QTS or another recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience working within Primary, Secondary or GCSE settings.
  • Previous experience supporting learners with SEND, SEMH or EHCPs.
  • Experience in 1:1 tuition, intervention or alternative provision.
