Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd, through TP Tutors, is seeking an experienced 1:1 Tutor to support learners in Kettering and surrounding areas. You will provide personalised one-to-one tuition for primary to adult level, adapting to each learner's needs, and monitor progress with reports.

Flexible hours, with options for part-time or long-term assignments, and a supportive consultant network. Most sessions occur during school hours, with occasional out-of-hours work.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years UK teaching or tutoring experience
  • Good knowledge of the UK National Curriculum
  • Strong communication and behaviour-management skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with learners
  • Full UK driving licence or reliable travel to locations

1:1 Tutor – Kettering

TP Tutors, part of Teaching Personnel, is looking for experienced 1:1 Tutors to support children, young people, and adults across Kettering and surrounding areas.

This role is suitable for experienced teachers, tutors, SEND practitioners, and qualified educators who want flexible teaching work and enjoy helping individual learners improve their education, confidence, and skills.

The Role

You will provide personalised one-to-one tuition based on each learner's individual needs. Learners may be at primary, secondary, GCSE, post-16, or adult level.

You may teach:

  • Primary and Secondary subjects
  • GCSE
  • Functional Skills
  • SEND learners

Tuition can take place in learners' homes, schools, community settings, or alternative education provisions.

Most lessons take place during school hours, Monday to Friday, although some assignments may be available outside school hours. Both part-time and full-time opportunities are available, including long-term assignments.

Main Responsibilities

As a tutor, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging 1:1 lessons.
  • Adapt teaching to each learner's ability and needs.
  • Support learners with their curriculum or qualifications.
  • Help learners improve their confidence and independence.
  • Support learners with SEND where appropriate.
  • Monitor progress and complete session reports.
  • Build positive relationships with learners and families.
  • Work professionally with schools, local authorities, and other organisations.
  • Encourage learners to develop a positive attitude towards education.
Requirements

You must have:

  • At least 2 years of UK teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Experience teaching Primary, Secondary, GCSE, Functional Skills, or SEND learners.
  • Good knowledge of the UK National Curriculum.
  • Strong communication and behaviour-management skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with learners.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, or another reliable way to travel between tuition locations.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
Desirable Experience

The following would be an advantage:

  • QTS
  • PGCE
  • Another recognised teaching qualification
  • SEND experience
  • Experience supporting learners with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, dyslexia, or speech and language needs
  • Experience teaching in homes, schools, colleges, community settings, or alternative provisions
  • Knowledge of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
Pay

The role offers competitive weekly pay. Your rate may depend on your experience, qualifications, the learner's needs, and the type of tuition assignment.

Location and Travel

The role covers Kettering and nearby areas. You must be willing and able to travel to different tuition locations.

In Summary

This is a flexible opportunity for an experienced teacher or tutor to work directly with individual learners.

You will help learners develop their academic knowledge, confidence, independence, and learning skills. You may work with children, young people, or adults, including learners with SEND.

The role is mainly during school hours and requires travel around Kettering and surrounding areas.
