Job summary

A Wilderness Way is seeking Residential Support Workers to transform lives by providing stable, nurturing care for children in residential settings. Roles include building trusting relationships, creating a structured home, supporting education and wellbeing, and guiding young people toward independence.

Qualified candidates with Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare are preferred; others may be considered for Senior positions.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals in care, education, youth work or similar environments.
• Positive, resilient attitude and strong communication skills.
• Willingness to work toward Level 3 qualification if not held already.
• Must be 21 or over due to regulatory requirements.
• Hold a full UK driving licence and be comfortable driving as part of the role.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, trusting relationships with children.
• Create a safe, structured home environment.
• Support children's education, health and wellbeing.
• Encourage independence, confidence and resilience.
• Help children access experiences and opportunities.
• Support children to express wishes, feelings and aspirations.
• Use trauma-informed approaches to support emotional wellbeing.
• Collaborate with Managers, Therapists and teams to achieve positive outcomes.
• Senior level: mentor and support less experienced colleagues.
