Job summary

Wilderness Way is seeking Residential Support Workers to help change the lives of children across our homes. You’ll build trusting relationships, create a safe, nurturing home, and support education, health and wellbeing while encouraging independence and life skills.

Opportunities for Senior Residential Support Worker exist for experienced candidates, including mentorship and role modelling, with safeguarding and DBS checks standard for all roles.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals in care, education, youth work, healthcare or related settings.
• Strong communication skills and a genuine passion for helping children.
• Positive, resilient attitude and ability to lead by example.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, trusting relationships with children.
• Create a safe, structured and nurturing home environment.
• Support children with education, health and wellbeing.
• Encourage independence, confidence and resilience.
• Help children access new experiences and opportunities.
• Support children to express their wishes, feelings and aspirations.
• Use trauma-informed approaches to support emotional wellbeing.
• Collaborate with Managers, Therapists and multidisciplinary teams to achieve positive outcomes.
• Senior Residential Support Worker role includes mentoring and supporting less experienced staff.
