A government agency in the United Kingdom is hiring Transportation Construction Technicians for various levels of responsibility. The roles involve inspecting highway construction projects for compliance to standards, conducting field tests, and requiring 1-3 years of relevant construction experience. This series exists to perform a broad scope of high level transportation duties and/or supervisor responsibility. Serves as a senior technician performing a variety of journey-level work related to highway construction activities.
Transportation Construction Technician 1: $20.36/hr. Grade 17
Entry level position. Duties include inspection of highway construction work, ensuring compliance with standards, using specialized software and Google applications for correspondence and measurements, reading plans and specifications, performing field tests and sample transmittals, calculating areas, and attending safety, partnering and training meetings.
Transportation Construction Technician 2: $22.68/hr. Grade 18
Intermediate level. Responsibilities include inspecting construction for compliance, examining materials and surface conditions, conducting field tests, reviewing project records, researching regulations, consulting manuals, recording workflow, and attending training and safety meetings.
Transportation Construction Technician 3: $27.34/hr. Grade 19
Full journey classification. Performs broad high-level duties: inspection of construction work, documentation and quantity lists, consulting engineers, ensuring conformance to specifications, attending meetings and training, conducting field tests, consulting manuals and regulations, recording history, and inspecting project records.
Transportation Construction Technician 1: Preferred candidate has 1 year of construction experience covering civil engineering principles, construction inspection, materials testing, urban traffic control, equipment operation, and reading construction documents.
Transportation Construction Technician 2: Preferred candidate has 2 years of construction experience covering civil engineering principles, construction inspection, materials testing, urban traffic control, equipment operation, and reading construction documents.
Transportation Construction Technician 3: Preferred candidate has 3 years of construction experience covering civil engineering principles, construction inspection, materials testing, urban traffic control, equipment operation, and reading construction documents.
Transportation Construction Technician I – One year construction-related experience.
Transportation Construction Technician II – Two years construction-related experience.
Transportation Construction Technician III – Three years construction-related experience.
American Concrete Institute and Arizona Technical Testing Institute Certifications required within 1 year of hire date.
A medical/physical evaluation is required prior to appointment.
Position requires driving or vehicle use; requires a valid Arizona Class D driver’s license, current driver training, acceptable driving record, and compliance with state vehicle insurance regulations.
