Company Description

XPO, Inc – Logistics done differently. We are currently recruiting for a Transport Shift Supervisor on the Day Shift, working a 4 on 4 off pattern, based at our site in Leigh as part of this busy transport operation on our IKEA contract. If you are ready for a change and can grow into a role, we are looking for someone like you.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the day-to-day operations on site, including people management, warehousing, traffic and admin operations.
• Deputise for Shift Manager when required.
• Overall responsibility for the management of customer stock from receipt to final last-mile delivery for all customers.
• Work with IKEA (and other customers) to manage operational costs, achieve budget and deliver cost reductions.
• Ensure efficient planning of resources and engage with other departments for a collaborative approach.
• Ensure vehicles are loaded and unloaded safely and within specified time limits.
• Ensure warehouse operatives complete loading and unloading documentation on time and in full.
• Maintain the quality of product and service within the warehouse at the highest possible standards.
• Develop and manage site KPIs in line with customer SLA.
• Provide leadership and direction to the team.
• Motivate, coach and develop a high-performing Hub team.
• Act as the point of contact for the customer.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Create and drive a culture of continuous improvement and lead process improvement activities.

Qualifications

• Exposure working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.
• Previous experience supervising and developing a team within a complex transport environment.
• Proven experience within transport and a good understanding of compliance and driver hours.
• Computer literate – able to answer emails, dispatch drivers and compile a handover every morning.
• Team building experience.
• Experience in a fast-paced, time-critical environment.
• Some transport experience dealing with CE drivers would be beneficial.
