Transport Manager

Maidstone

Up to GBP50k per annum (DOE)

Full-Time, Permanent

We are currently seeking an experienced and highly organised Transport Manager to oversee the daily operation of a fleet of Class 1 vehicles based in Maidstone. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business where you ll have real ownership of transport operations and play a key role in maintaining compliance, efficiency, and driver performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Overall management of a fleet of Class 1 vehicles and drivers
  • Ensuring full compliance with O‑Licence, DVSA, and UK transport legislation
  • Planning and optimising vehicle routes and schedules for maximum efficiency
  • Managing driver hours, tachographs, and Working Time Directive compliance
  • Conducting driver inductions, performance reviews, and ongoing training
  • Overseeing vehicle maintenance, MOTs, servicing, and defect reporting
  • Handling transport‑related incidents, investigations, and corrective actions
  • Liaising with customers, planners, and internal teams to ensure service delivery
  • Monitoring transport KPIs, costs, fuel usage, and implementing cost‑saving initiatives
  • Maintaining accurate transport records and reports
About You
  • Hold a valid Transport Manager CPC
  • Previous experience managing Class 1 vehicles
  • Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation and compliance standards
  • Proven ability to manage drivers and maintain high performance standards
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Confident using transport management systems and Microsoft Office
  • Calm under pressure with strong problem‑solving ability
