Job description

We’re looking for a Trainee Energy Consultant to join our Technical Delivery team at NFU Energy. This is an exciting opportunity for someone at the start of their career, or looking to change career, who is passionate about energy, sustainability and problem solving.

You’ll work alongside experienced consultants, supporting the delivery of technical aspects of client projects, including renewable and energy scheme applications, compliance audits, sustainability assessments, feasibility studies and efficiency reviews for a wide range of customers.

This role offers excellent learning, training and development opportunities, with a pathway to Energy Consultant and other related roles.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Assisting with site visits to understand energy use, renewable options and compliance with renewable and energy schemes
  • Processing applications and amendments for schemes such as Renewable Heat Incentive, Feed in Tariff, Combined Heat & Power Quality Assurance, among others
  • Communicating with clients, suppliers and installers under guidance from senior colleagues
  • Maintaining accurate project records, timesheets and activity reports
  • Supporting wider technical, compliance and research projects across the business
  • Analysing energy data to identify savings and improvement opportunities
  • Working closely with teams such as Sales, Marketing, and Energy Account Management
About You

This role would suit a graduate or someone with early technical experience who is keen to learn and develop.

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • A degree (or equivalent) in energy, engineering, environmental science, agriculture or a related subject - or relevant practical experience
  • An interest in the UK energy sector, sustainability and energy efficiency
  • Strong analytical skills and confidence working with data
  • Good organisation, time management and attention to detail
  • Clear communication skills and a willingness to engage with clients
  • Competent IT skills, including Excel, Word and Outlook

It would be great if you also have:

  • Knowledge of renewable or low‑carbon technologies
  • An interest in agricultural or rural energy use
  • Advanced Excel or modelling skills
Additional Information
  • This role is offered on a hybrid working basis, with a minimum 2 days in the office per week.
  • NFU Energy is based at Stoneleigh Park, Kenilworth.
  • Regular travel to client sites across the UK will be expected.
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are required

Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week

Salary: £25,000 - £28,000 per annum
