Job summary

AECOM is seeking enthusiastic Traffic Engineering Apprentices to join our team. You’ll gain practical experience across the project lifecycle, working with experienced engineers in multidisciplinary teams to develop safer, more efficient transport solutions.

You’ll use industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, LinSig, TRANSYT, VISSIM and BIM tools, and you'll progress toward a recognised qualification while contributing to live projects.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship programme in Traffic Engineering.
• Experience or familiarity with CAD/modelling software is beneficial.
• Willingness to learn and develop towards a recognised qualification.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation of design drawings, plans and supporting documentation using CAD and other design software.
• Supporting the development and delivery of traffic engineering, highways and active travel schemes from concept through to detailed design.
• Helping to collect, analyse and interpret traffic and transport data.
• Assisting with highway, street and traffic engineering design, including signage and road markings.
• Supporting traffic management and traffic signal design activities.
• Participating in site visits, surveys and inspections to gather information and understand existing conditions.
• Assisting with technical reports, calculations and presentation materials.
• Working collaboratively with engineers, designers and other technical professionals across multidisciplinary project teams.
• Maintaining project records and providing support with general project administration.
• Developing your understanding of relevant engineering standards, guidance and industry best practice.
