Job summary

AECOM is recruiting a Traffic Engineering Apprentice in the Liverpool area with a 2027 start. You will join our Traffic Engineering team, supporting projects that improve safety, efficiency and sustainable transport networks, while training toward a recognised qualification.

You will work with engineers and technicians across multidisciplinary teams, gain hands-on design and data-analysis experience, and benefit from on-the-job learning, formal training and mentoring in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• GCSEs (Mathematics and English) required per the Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship.
• Three A-Levels (Mathematics and a physical science) or equivalent for degree entry.
• Interest in traffic/transport engineering and a desire to build a career in the industry.
• Aptitude for technical software and engineering drawing (AutoCAD or 3D modelling).
• Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design drawings and supporting documentation using CAD and other software.
• Support the development and delivery of traffic engineering and active travel schemes from concept to detail.
• Help collect, analyse and interpret traffic and transport data.
• Assist with highway and traffic design, signage and road markings.
• Support traffic management and signal design activities.
• Participate in site visits, surveys and inspections to gather information.
• Assist with reports, calculations and presentation materials.
• Work collaboratively with engineers and other professionals across teams.

Education

GCSEs including Mathematics and English

Three A-Levels including Mathematics and a physical science

BTEC Level 3 in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
