Job summary

AECOM is seeking enthusiastic Traffic Engineering Apprentices to join our team. You’ll learn on real transport projects, supporting designers and engineers from concept to detailed design while gaining hands-on experience with CAD, 3D modelling and traffic data analysis.

This role suits school leavers with Maths and English GCSEs and A-levels, offering on‑the‑job training, mentoring and a recognised qualification.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C/4 or above, including Mathematics and English.
• Three A-Levels (or equivalent) including Mathematics and a physical science at grade C or above for Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship.
• Interest in traffic, transport or civil engineering and a desire to build a career in the industry.
• Aptitude for technical software, engineering design and drawing (AutoCAD or 3D modelling).
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design drawings and documentation using CAD and other design software.
• Support traffic engineering, highways and active travel schemes from concept to detailed design.
• Help collect, analyse and interpret traffic data.
• Assist with highway, street and traffic engineering design including signage and road markings.
• Support traffic management and traffic signal design activities.
• Participate in site visits, surveys and inspections to gather information.
• Assist with technical reports, calculations and presentation materials.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams across projects.
• Maintain project records and provide general project administration.
• Develop understanding of engineering standards and industry best practice.
