Job summary

AECOM is recruiting a Traffic Engineering Apprentice in Liverpool to start in 2027. You will support a range of projects aiming to create safer, more efficient transport networks while gaining practical experience through on-the-job learning, formal training and mentoring.

You will work with experienced engineers, developing CAD and modelling skills, and progressing towards a recognised qualification in Traffic Engineering within a supportive, hybrid-working environment.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 GCSEs (incl. Maths and English) at grade C/4 or above.
• Three A-Levels (or equivalent) including Maths and a physical science for Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship.
• Interest in traffic, transport or civil engineering and willingness to learn.
• Aptitude for technical software and CAD/3D modelling.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of design drawings and documentation using CAD and design software.
• Support development and delivery of traffic engineering schemes from concept to detailed design.
• Help collect, analyse and interpret traffic and transport data.
• Assist with highway, street and traffic engineering design, including signage and road markings.
• Support traffic management and traffic signal design activities.
• Participate in site visits, surveys and inspections to gather information.
• Assist with technical reports, calculations and presentation materials.
• Work with engineers and other professionals across multidisciplinary teams.
• Maintain project records and support project administration.
• Develop understanding of relevant engineering standards and best practices.
