Job summary

AECOM is seeking enthusiastic Traffic Engineering Apprentices in Newcastle with a strong interest in safe, sustainable transport networks. You will support live projects, work with engineers, and develop skills through on-the-job learning and formal training toward a recognised qualification.

You will gain experience across road design, junctions, cycle paths, and traffic modelling using industry tools. This is a hybrid role with progression opportunities within a global engineering firm.

Qualifications

• GCSEs including Maths and English are required.
• Three A-Levels (or equivalent) including maths or a physical science.
• Interest in traffic/transport civil engineering and a career in the industry.
• Proficiency with design/drawing tools such as AutoCAD or 3D modelling software.
• Basic MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design drawings, plans and supporting documents using CAD and related software.
• Support development and delivery of traffic/highways schemes from concept to detail.
• Help collect, analyse and interpret traffic data.
• Assist with highway, street and traffic design including signage and road markings.
• Support traffic management and signal design activities.
• Participate in site visits, surveys and inspections to gather data.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations and presentation materials.
