Job summary

AECOM is seeking enthusiastic Traffic Engineering Apprentices to join our Bristol team for a 2027 start. You’ll support a range of projects aimed at safer, more efficient transport networks, working with experienced engineers in a hybrid, UK-based setting.

You’ll gain practical experience across the project lifecycle through on‑the‑job learning and formal training while pursuing a recognised qualification in traffic engineering.

Qualifications

• GCSEs/A-Levels equivalents required for Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship.
• Interest in traffic, transport or civil engineering and willingness to learn.
• Aptitude for software, engineering design and drawing; familiarity with AutoCAD or 3D modelling.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of design drawings using CAD and other design software.
• Support development and delivery of traffic engineering, highways and active travel schemes from concept to detailed design.
• Help collect, analyse and interpret traffic and transport data.
• Assist with highway, street and traffic engineering design, including signage and road markings.
• Support traffic management and traffic signal design activities.
• Participate in site visits, surveys and inspections to gather information.
• Assist with technical reports, calculations and presentation materials.
• Work with engineers and other professionals across multidisciplinary project teams.
• Maintain project records and assist with general administration.
