Job summary

AECOM is seeking enthusiastic school leavers for a Traffic Engineering apprenticeship, offering hands-on experience across project lifecycles. You will work in a multidisciplinary team, contributing to safer, more efficient transport networks while gaining on-the-job learning and formal training towards a recognised qualification.

You'll assist with design drawings, data analysis, and site inspections, developing practical skills in CAD, design software and reporting within a hybrid work

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Mathematics and English.
• Three A-Levels (or equivalent, such as a BTEC Level 3 in Civil Engineering), including Mathematics and a physical science where required.
• Interest in traffic, transport or civil engineering and a desire to build a career in the industry.
• An aptitude for technical software, engineering design and drawing, with interest in AutoCAD or 3D modelling.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation of design drawings, plans and supporting documentation using CAD and other design software.
• Supporting the development and delivery of traffic engineering, highways and active travel schemes from concept through to detailed design.
• Helping to collect, analyse and interpret traffic and transport data.
• Assisting with highway, street and traffic engineering design, including signage and road markings.
• Supporting traffic management and traffic signal design activities.
• Participating in site visits, surveys and inspections to gather information and understand existing conditions.
• Assisting with technical reports, calculations and presentation materials.
• Working collaboratively with engineers, designers and other technical professionals across multidisciplinary project teams.
• Maintaining project records and providing support with general project administration.
• Developing your understanding of relevant engineering standards, guidance and industry best practice.
