Job summary

Howdens Joinery UK is seeking a proactive Business Developer to grow the local depot, mainly through speaking with customers face to face and on the phone. You’ll generate leads, arrange appointments and drive demand by understanding customer needs and projects.

You’ll work with Kitchen Sales Designers and Territory Sales Representatives to convert conversations into opportunities and sales. This role offers a busy depot environment, strong team culture and an attractive bonus scheme.

Qualifications

• Confident communicator with customers on phone and in person.
• Able to build relationships and convert conversations into opportunities.
• Commercially minded with a drive to sell and add value.
• Self‑motivated, positive and proactive in approach.
• Organised, reliable and able to track customer activity and pipelines.
• Comfortable meeting call targets and activity levels.

Responsibilities

• Call existing trade customers to build long‑term relationships and grow future business.
• Spot inactivity and bring accounts back on track using customer data.
• Manage a targeted customer list and hit daily call activity levels.
• Identify opportunities to add value from customer projects and drive repeat business.
• Arrange surveys and appointments for Kitchen Sales Designers.
• Promote products, offers and events to keep customers engaged.
• Support administration including invoicing and depot tasks.
• Collaborate with the depot team to hit targets and deliver great service.
