Thermal System Test Engineer
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Research, develop, and oversee full-vehicle thermal systems testing at an automotive proving ground.
- The Thermal Systems Department is responsible for Air Conditioning, Heater System, Auto Temp Control, Cooling (towing and high performance), and Battery Thermal Management for all Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis models sold in North America, using internally-developed objective and subjective test modes aligned with North American environment and customer expectations.
- Support corporate goals of safety, customer satisfaction, warranty cost reduction, and positive public image.
HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT
- Support third-party data collection for test mode development, CAE model correlation, research, market understanding, and design requirements.
- Participate in all related vehicle testing for North American Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles, including field and lab testing.
- Participate in Automatic Temperature Control (FATC) calibration testing and validation, focusing on field validation with some lab work.
- Install, configure, and analyze data acquisition equipment, working with vehicle CAN bus, thermocouples, etc.
- Conduct competitive vehicle and technology evaluations, submitting reports as required.
- Lead testing of new thermal technologies as assigned.
- Complete administrative tasks and oversee project work like procurement and facility maintenance.
- Create and present technical reports as needed.
- Act as liaison for thermal systems activities between internal and external stakeholders, representing North American customer perspectives.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Two years' experience in vehicle testing and development, preferably in an automotive proving ground environment.
- Excellent communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and data analysis tools like MATLAB, R, or Python.
- Proficiency in automotive data acquisition tools, issue investigation, root cause analysis, project management, and organizational skills.

- Work outdoors in various weather conditions and in a shop environment with associated hazards.
- Physical requirements include lifting up to 75 lbs, bending, stooping, and operation of vehicles for testing.
- This is a full-time, on-site role; remote or hybrid options are not available.
Compensation ranges from $80,000 to $98,000 annually.
