Job summary

Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital is seeking a Theatre Practitioner to join our Major Orthopaedic Scrub team on a bank basis. You will scrub for major orthopaedic procedures and work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, high‑quality patient care.

You must be a registered Theatre Nurse or ODP with NMC/HCPC registration and post‑registration orthopaedic scrub experience. The role offers an hourly rate up to £26.50, with flexible ad‑hoc hours and benefits.

Responsibilities

• Work with leading consultants and professionals in the team.
• Manage a varied caseload with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities.
• Supervise and support junior members of staff.
• Create high-quality, evidence-based care across anaesthetic and recovery phases.
• Collaborate with anaesthetists and surgical teams pre, during and post-surgery.
• Contribute to continuous professional development and service improvement.

As a registered Theatre Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner, you'll have the qualifications and experience relevant to your registration, including NMC or HCPC. You'll have post-registration experience in major orthopaedic scrub role, be an excellent communicator and team worker - flexible and motivated.

Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital

The Exeter Nuffield hospital is based next to the RD&E hospital in Wonford, Exeter. The hospital has 2 theatres, as well as a hybrid cardiac catheter laboratory/theatre and an Endoscopy suite. There are two ward areas: an inpatient area with 21 beds and a day‑case ward with 12 beds. We also have a busy outpatient department, pharmacy, physiotherapy, and radiology department including an MRI scanner. We specialise in elective orthopaedic and spinal surgery, cardiology including invasive procedures, general surgery, plastics and cosmetic surgery, ENT, and gynaecology. The Hospital has a MAKO robot that undertakes some of the joint replacement surgery which we have become well known for in this field of surgery.
