Job summary

Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital is seeking a Theatre Practitioner – Major Orthopaedic Scrub (Bank) to join our nursing team on an ad hoc basis. This role involves working within the theatre environment across orthopaedic cases, with opportunities to develop skills in a hospital renowned for its joint replacement expertise.

As a registered Theatre Nurse or ODP, you will contribute to high-quality patient care, support senior staff, and participate in a variety of theatre lists.

Qualifications

• Registered Theatre Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP).
• Post-registration experience in major orthopaedic scrub role.
• Excellent communicator and team worker – flexible and motivated.

Responsibilities

• Work with leading consultants and like-minded professionals.
• Maintain a varied caseload with state-of-the-art technology and facilities.
• Supervise, support and develop junior staff.
• Deliver high-quality care in anaesthetic and recovery phases of surgery.
• Collaborate with anaesthetists and surgical teams pre, during, and post-surgery.
• Ensure continuity of patient care and clinical effectiveness.

As a registered Theatre Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner, you’ll have the qualifications and experience relevant to your registration, including NMC or HCPC. You’ll have post-registration experience in major orthopaedic scrub role, be an excellent communicator and team worker – flexible and motivated.

Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital

The Exeter Nuffield hospital is based next to the RD&E hospital in Wonford, Exeter. The hospital has 2 theatres, as well as a hybrid cardiac catheter laboratory/theatre and an Endoscopy suite. There are two ward areas: an inpatient area with 21 beds and a day‑case ward with 12 beds. We also have a busy outpatient department, pharmacy, physiotherapy, and radiology department including an MRI scanner. We specialise in elective orthopaedic and spinal surgery, cardiology including invasive procedures, general surgery, plastics and cosmetic surgery, ENT, and gynaecology. The Hospital has a MAKO robot that undertakes some of the joint replacement surgery which we have become well known for in this field of surgery.
