Job summary

Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital is seeking a Theatre Practitioner Major Orthopaedic Scrub to join our bank staffing. You will work with leading consultants, support junior staff, and contribute to high-quality care across pre, intra, and post-operative phases.

You must be a registered Theatre Nurse or ODP with HCPC/NMC registration and post-registration orthopaedic scrub experience. We offer competitive hourly rates, flexible ad-hoc shifts, and access to our facilities.

Qualifications

• Registered Theatre Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with NMC/HCPC registration.
• Post-registration experience in major orthopaedic scrub role.
• Excellent communication and team-working skills; flexible and motivated.

• Enjoy a varied caseload with state-of-the-art technology, equipment and facilities.
• Supervise, support and develop junior staff.
• Create high-quality care and patient experiences that are clinically effective and evidence-based.
• Interact with ward colleagues to maintain continuity in patient care.
• Deliver high-quality care to patients in anaesthetic and recovery phases of surgery.
• Collaborate with anaesthetists and surgical teams to prepare and monitor patients pre, during, and post-surgery.

As a registered Theatre Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner, you’ll have the qualifications and experience relevant to your registration, including NMC or HCPC. You’ll have post-registration experience in major orthopaedic scrub role, be an excellent communicator and team worker – flexible and motivated. Role

As a Theatre Practitioner Major Ortho Scrub, you will:

Contract and hours

Working on the bank means you are not contracted to a set number of hours per week but instead work on an ad-hoc basis to suit the needs of the business and your availability. Up to £26.50 per hour depending on experience.

About Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital

The Exeter Nuffield hospital is based next to the RD&E hospital in Wonford, Exeter. The hospital has 2 theatres, as well as a hybrid cardiac catheter laboratory/theatre and an Endoscopy suite. There are two ward areas: an inpatient area with 21 beds and a day-case ward with 12 beds.

We also have a busy outpatient department, pharmacy, physiotherapy, and radiology department including an MRI scanner.

We specialise in elective orthopaedic and spinal surgery, cardiology including invasive procedures, general surgery, plastics and cosmetic surgery, ENT, and gynaecology.

The Hospital has a MAKO robot that undertakes some of the joint replacement surgery which we have become well known for in this field of surgery.
