Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager to join the Business Information and Systems team within Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS). As a blue‑light service dedicated to ensuring the safety and well‑being of our community, we are seeking an experienced and dynamic Project Manager to lead the delivery of a business‑critical system replacement, making a significant impact on our operations and enhancing service delivery.

Role Overview

The project will renew the technology currently used to mobilise fire and rescue resources for Royal Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Services. The appointed Project Manager will lead this enterprise‑wide initiative through to successful delivery, creating a project team structure that fosters effective working relationships and establishing strong connections with stakeholders across the three services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan the end‑to‑end project delivery, ensuring alignment to strategy.
  • Deliver a robust command and control technology solution, effectively manage key stakeholder relationships, and ensure the project meets expectations.
  • Track, monitor and report progress, including monitoring targeted benefits.
  • Identify and manage risks, issues and dependencies throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Champion and adapt industry best practice, promoting best practice and sharing knowledge with key stakeholders.
  • Provide data and analysis to support robust decision‑making and optimum ways of working.
Key Role Requirements
  • Professional Project Management qualifications (e.g., Prince2, AgilePM, APM).
  • 5+ years’ experience delivering technical and business projects.
  • Experience delivering complex projects, preferably in a blue‑light service.
  • Hands‑on experience with a variety of Project Management methodologies.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Core project management skills, including planning, tracking, reporting, budget, risk, issue and benefit management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
