This fully remote role, preferably close to Bristol or London, requires experience in C# and Selenium as well as SC Clearance. - fully remote, but probably preference for closer to a hub (Bristol or London mainly)

- salary is £50,000 - £55,000 – i assume that’s a SFIA 3 so 2 / 3 years experience

- i’d just look at C# / Selenium skills, but need SC Clearance

Description

Reporting to the Professional Services Test Practice Lead, the Test Automation Engineer will be responsible for:

  • The successful delivery of testing for projects covering all levels of testing including manual and automation/functional and non-functional testing.
  • Take responsibility for allocated test deliverables, performing analysis activities during test preparation and test execution including recording the results and reporting issue through the agreed defect management process.
  • Ensuring that all test deliverables produced are in accordance with the Civica Testing Policy and project test strategy and all deliverables are reviewed to drive quality into the process.
  • Provision of coaching and mentoring to junior testers as required.
  • Driving continuous improvement to increase product quality and achieve Civica Group business targets.
  • Performing any project test activities as required.
  • This role will involve “blended working” between home and Civica / customer offices. Within the boundaries of any government guidance on travel, it is expected that the successful candidate will need to travel to the Bristol and London offices, which are closest to the majority of our software engineering teams and UK wide for occasional meetings.
Requirements

Delivery:

  • Manage the production, quality and accuracy of all relevant test artefacts and ensure that these adhere to the Civica Test Policy
  • Provide Validation and verification of test inputs, functional specifications, requirements etc. for testability, ambiguity and completeness
  • Produce test artefacts, Test Cases, Expected Results, Actual Results, Defects, Data, Defect Re-tests and Test Outcome Reports
  • Manage the quality aspects of testing work and provide peer review of the testing artefacts produced by others in the testing team
  • Provide accurate and concise progress updates
  • Assess and document any risks or issues that threaten the achievement of the testing deliverables
  • Ensure that effective communication is maintained with team members on the project team
  • Able to execute manual tests and automated tests within the automation frameworks
  • Participate in meetings with stakeholders.
  • Undertake billable delivery work appropriate to SFIA grade and experience.
  • Provide input to the Test Planning and Estimating test phases
People and Culture:
  • Act as a role model, mentor and coach to Junior Testers.
Sales:
  • Assist in any pre‑sales activities to current and potential customers, contributing personal expertise and experience of software engineering projects.

  • Contribute to and promote standards, continuously improving ways of working both within the Practice and the wider Engineering and Project Delivery team
Essential Competencies:
  • Strong well developed testing skills and in-depth knowledge of current testing techniques across the test phases (System, System Integration, Regression, UAT, etc)
  • Experience and understanding of waterfall, agile and hybrid development methodologies.
  • Strong experience and knowledge of testing lifecycle and approaches (e.g. functional / non-functional / automation) and of automation testing using technologies such as Selenium, Cucumber, SpecFlow).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical communities and “non-technical” senior management (internally and externally).
  • Demonstrate initiative in developing solutions to problems encountered during testing
  • ISTQB Foundation Qualified

  • Working knowledge of Azure DevOps (incl. Test Manager) and JIRA
