Job summary

Availability Window

We require you to be available during the following times each week, and we will schedule your contracted hours within these windows with at least three weeks' notice:

  • Thu: 08:00 – 13:00
  • Fri: 17:00 – 21:15
  • Sat: 17:00 – 21:15

Our Tesco colleague rate of pay starts from £12.45 an hour. Additional payments may also apply depending on location and skills.

We offer a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week for new colleagues, with a flexible option down to 12 hours.

  • Knowing your customers and serving them with passion and pride; giving great natural service.
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about the products and services within my store.
  • Putting into practice the training you have received, so we all work safely, effectively and serve our customers brilliantly.
  • Dealing with customer complaints and feedback in a professional manner, always sending customers home happy.
  • Accurately recording any customer details and treating this information confidentially.
  • Carrying out safe and legal checks on the desk that you are trained for, reporting any next steps to the Shift Leader/Team Manager.
  • Recording and disposing of waste in a responsible manner, including following food waste and recycling routines.
  • Accurately recording and processing returned items from customers.
  • Signing in visitors, ensuring they are aware of the health, safety and fire procedures for the store.
  • Controlling keys that may be stored at the desk correctly.
  • Liaising with Shift Leaders, Managers and Security, communicating clearly.
  • Taking part in seasonal, community and charity events, creating a great inclusive atmosphere.
  • Working across the store in our service, picking and replenishment areas where required.
  • Handling products with care to maintain quality and ensure they reach customers in the best condition.
  • Being yourself, living our values, making everyone feel welcome and always following our policies.
  • A passion for delivering great service, greeting customers with a smile, and serving them with pride.
  • The ability to build rapport with customers, meaning they leave the store having experienced a great shopping trip.
  • To take the initiative and make decisions that are right for our customers.
