Job summary

Birmingham City Council’s Cityserve catering service is seeking a Catering Supervisor for St Augustines RC Junior, Infant & Nursery. The role is 35 hours per week, term-time only, with shifts 7.30am to 2.30pm, and salary on a pro rata basis.

The post is graded B- (£29,542 – £35,570) with potential evaluation under the Equal Pay Programme. Responsibilities include preparing meals, service planning, stock control, costing, and staff training.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen experience is essential.
• Food Safety Level 3 required.
• Allergy Awareness Certificate desirable.
• Excellent IT, verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience in a similar environment.
• High standards and quality drive.
• Positive attitude and strong people skills.
• Passion about food and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals for pupils.
• Plan and control all aspects of the service.
• Keep the kitchen clean and tidy.
• Costing, stocktaking and maintaining records using IT systems.
• Use Saffron, I Learning and Oracle.
• Staff management and training.
• Maintain menus with balanced diets and manage allergens.
• Be aware of pupils' dietary needs and preferences.
• Collaborate with managers and supervisors to deliver first-class school meals.
