Job summary

Birmingham City Council’s Cityserve catering service is hiring a General Assistant for Ward End Primary School. The role is part-time (15 hours weekly) and term-time only, with a pro-rata salary of £25,614–£28,153. You will support kitchen operations and service in a busy school environment.

The post requires prior kitchen experience, food safety knowledge, and a can-do attitude to maintain high standards and contribute to healthy menus for pupils.

Qualifications

• Food Safety Level 2 certificate in date
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Allergy Awareness Certificate in date
• Experience in a similar environment
• High standards and quality drive
• A ‘can do’ attitude

Responsibilities

• Assist in keeping the kitchen clean & tidy
• Maintain a balanced diet and varied menus
• Be aware of the care users’ needs and dietary preferences
• Work collaboratively with managers and supervisors to ensure the first-class delivery of food in schools kitchens both in and outside of performance times
• Previous kitchen experience is essential to this role
