Job summary

Birmingham City Council's Cityserve is seeking a Catering Supervisor for St Augustines RC Jun, Infant & Nursery. The role is 35 hours per week, term time only, Monday to Friday, approx. 7am–2:30pm, with pay graded from £29,542 to £35,570 and pro rata basis.

Responsibilities include meal prep, service planning, stock control, costing, and staff training. A DBS check and right to work in the UK are required; extensive team collaboration ensures high‑quality school meals.

Qualifications

• Food Safety Level 3 required.
• Excellent IT, verbal and written communication skills.
• Allergy Awareness Certificate.
• Experience in a similar environment.
• High standards and quality drive.
• Can‑do attitude and good people skills.
• Passion about food and customer service.
• Great team player.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking meals for pupils.
• Planning and controlling all aspects of the service.
• Keeping the kitchen clean and tidy.
• Costing, stocktaking and keeping appropriate records using IT skills.
• Using Saffron, I Learning and Oracle.
• Staff management and training.
• Maintain a menu with balanced diets and allergen control.
• Be aware of the care users’ needs and dietary preferences.
• Collaborate with managers and supervisors to ensure first‑class delivery of food in school kitchens.
• Previous kitchen experience is essential.
