Job summary

Birmingham City Council is seeking a Catering Supervisor for St Augustines RC Jun, Infant & Nursery. The role runs 35 hours per week during term time (7 hours/day, approx. 7.30am-2.30pm) with a pro rata salary of £29,542–£35,570.

You will lead school meal service, manage staff, and ensure dietary needs are met in a busy environment. Essential qualifications include Food Safety Level 3, Allergy Awareness, and strong IT/communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking meals for pupils.
• Planning and controlling all aspects of the service.
• Keeping the kitchen clean and tidy.
• Costing, stocktaking and keeping records using IT systems.
• Using Saffron, I Learning and Oracle.
• Staff management and training.
• Maintaining a balanced menu with allergen control.
• Support care users' dietary needs and preferences.
• Collaborate with managers to ensure first-class delivery of food in schools.

35 hours per week

Working times are Monday - Friday term time only 7 hours per day, approx. 7.30am to 2.30pm

Salary is on a Pro Rata Basis

Grade B- £29,542 - £35,570

Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Equal Pay Programme

As a Catering Supervisor your responsibilities will include:

• preparing and cooking meals for pupils
• planning and controlling all aspects of the service
• keeping the kitchen clean & tidy
• costing, stocktaking and keepingappropriate records using IT skills
• using Saffron, I Learning and Oracle
• staff management and training
• to maintain a menu with balanced diets and allergen control
• to be aware of the care users’ needs and dietary preferences.
• you will work collaboratively with managers and supervisors to ensure the first-class delivery of food in school kitchens
