Tekla Design Engineer

Location: Leicester

Pay Rate: £35,000 - £42,000

Shift: Monday to Friday 8:00am - 17:00pm

Job Type: Permanent

Engineering @365 is partnering with a leading structural and architectural steel manufacturer in Leicester. We are seeking a skilled Design Engineer with expertise in Tekla Structures to design, model, and detail structural and architectural steel projects, including handrails, balustrades, staircases, and other bespoke steelwork.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create detailed structural and architectural steel designs and 3D models using Tekla Structures for projects including handrails, balustrades, staircases, and frame structures.
  • Generate precise shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and erection plans for structural steel and architectural steel components.
  • Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure steel designs meet project specifications, safety standards, and aesthetic requirements.
  • Review and analyse designs for accuracy, feasibility, and compliance with building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to fabrication and installation teams during construction.
  • Participate in design meetings, site visits, and coordination efforts to resolve any structural steel or architectural steel design issues.
  • Stay updated with Tekla software developments, structural steel detailing practices, and architectural steel trends.
Requirements / Skills
  • Proven experience as a Design Engineer with strong proficiency in Tekla Structures.
  • Extensive knowledge of structural steel and architectural steel design, including handrails, balustrades, staircases, and custom steelwork.
  • Experience producing shop drawings and fabrication details for steel fabricators.
  • Familiarity with additional design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Inventor, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of building codes, construction practices, and structural integrity.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
