Job Introduction

Technical Services Manager - Loughborough

ESS is seeking a Technical Services Manager to lead engineering and maintenance at the new National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) near Nottingham/Loughborough. The facility, with 70 inpatient beds, requires a high-quality maintenance service to ensure safe, effective patient care. Experience in the Health Sector and public sector contracts is preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with technical, contractual, and safety standards.
  • Manage asset and maintenance systems (Synbiotix, SFG20, HTMs).
  • Oversee supply chain performance and act as Water Responsible Person (L8/HTM 04-01).
  • Monitor estate condition, manage repairs, and lifecycle planning.
  • Produce KPI and performance reports.
  • Promote a safety culture and meet standards (e.g., ISO).
  • Drive operational excellence and sustainability initiatives.
  • Build strong client relationships and act on feedback to improve services.
  • Lead and develop teams and supply chain partners.
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, and commercial risks to maximise financial performance.
Experience & Skills
  • Proven experience in healthcare facilities management or related sectors.
  • Knowledge of Health Technical Memoranda and SFG20 maintenance standards.
  • Experience as a duty holder (Authorised Person or higher).
  • Skilled in diagnosing and resolving complex building system faults.
  • Strong subcontractor management and technical reporting skills.
  • Knowledge of statutory compliance, safety, and maintenance scheduling.
  • Effective leadership in complex environments with a customer-focused approach.
  • Financially and commercially astute.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, IT literacy, and stakeholder management.
