Overview

Based in a fantastic modern facility in Torbay, a developer of optical networking technologies is looking for an experienced Technical Lead to oversee outsourced hardware design and integration activities, including the development of custom ASICs and high-performance network interface cards.

You will be responsible for leading the definition, specification closure, design reviews, and verification of complex hardware systems, ensuring seamless integration into advanced photonics-based equipment platforms.

This role demands strong technical direction, supplier management, and program/risk oversight in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the definition, specification closure, design reviews, and verification of complex hardware systems;
• Oversee outsourced hardware design and integration activities (including development of custom ASICs and high‑performance network interface cards);
• Ensure seamless integration into advanced photonics‑based equipment platforms;
• Provide strong technical direction, supplier management, and program/risk oversight in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Experience: 10+ years in hardware integration, preferably within RF, photonics, or optical systems;
• Strong understanding of RF fundamentals, signal processing, and control loop design;
• Deep knowledge of high‑speed ADC and DAC specifications for hardware control;
• Proven ability to produce high‑quality technical documentation.

Education

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electronics Engineering, Physics, or other relevant fields or equivalent industry experience.
