About the Role

As a Piping Calculation Engineer at Hinkley Point C, you will play a key role in completing the design phase of one of the UK’s most significant nuclear projects. You will be the specialist ensuring the integrity of a vast piping network that forms the backbone of the Nuclear Island. This is a hybrid role based at Aztec West, with flexibility to work from home; you will be expected in the office at least three days a week.

Who You Are
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex engineering concepts clearly in writing and speech.
  • Strong mechanical engineering knowledge, including modal and static analysis, finite element simulations, and CAD design and modelling.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, regulatory compliance, and nuclear project contexts (EPR or similar).
  • Experience in technical coordination, piping support calculations, and end‑to‑end design projects.
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Perform detailed piping calculations and assess supports under load scenarios such as dead weight, thermal expansion, and seismic activity.
  • Oversee design changes, rework activities, and mitigation of open points to maintain project progress.
  • Collaborate with design and delivery teams to ensure technical quality across disciplines.
  • Resolve engineering issues pragmatically to keep the project moving forward.
  • Ensure design outputs and modifications are delivered on time and in line with process requirements.
