Job summary

A healthcare provider is seeking Two Team Leaders in Audiology Service to manage the Audiology Department at Scunthorpe General Hospital. Job summary

Two Team Leaders in Audiology Service at Scunthorpe General Hospital, Scunthorpe Community Diagnostic Centre and Goole Hospital.

Main duties
  • Assist with service planning, development and strategy by advising on professional aspects.
  • Work with other members to provide high‑quality Audiology service to adults and children; diagnostic evaluation and rehabilitation of adults with hearing loss; supervision/advice to junior members.
  • Perform audiometric tests—visual reinforcement, performance, play, audiometry, speech audiometry, speech discrimination, tympanometry, acoustic reflexes, TEOAE; fit and verify hearing aids; maintain hearing aids; advanced skills; specialist interest in paediatrics or complex adults.

Responsibilities
  • Day‑to‑day operational management of the Audiology Department.

  • Deputy to the Audiology Lead, assisting managers, staff and clinicians with local and national perspectives.
Person Specification – Knowledge
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Band 6 Audiologist with senior level skills.
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Risk management knowledge.
Education – Essential
  • BSc/MSc degree in Audiology from an accredited university or equivalent experience (BAAT Part 1 and 2 until 2006).
  • Registered with AHCS or HCPC.
Desirable – Education & Experience
  • Management/leadership qualification.
  • Post‑qualifying clinical experience in Audiology.
Specialist Knowledge – Essential
  • Specialist knowledge in a specific area of Audiology (paediatrics, complex adults).
  • Perform a wide range of diagnostic tests (tympanometry, speech audiometry, acoustic reflexes, TEOAE, PTA, otoscopy including video otoscopy).
  • Clinical/Managerial experience of supervising a team.
  • Hearing aid fitting with verification (e.g., REMS).
  • Experience performing hearing assessment direct referral clinics, prescribing hearing aids, identifying red flags and onward referral.
