Teaching Assistant

Location: Bridgwater College Academy

Part time - Working hours: 27.5 Hours per week (4 days), 39 weeks per year (term-time plus inset days), paid at Band 3, Point 3

Bridgwater College Academy is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and participating in learning activities.
  • Promote independence, self-esteem, and social inclusion.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individual education and behaviour plans.
  • Provide feedback to pupils and contribute to progress records.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
  • Support the use of ICT and help prepare resources for lessons.
  • Uphold safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection standards.
What We’re Looking For
  • Have a good level of literacy and numeracy (GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths).
  • Hold a relevant qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) or have equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and ICT skills.
  • Are confident, well‑organised, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Have experience working with children in an educational setting.

We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to support the learning in the Secondary classrooms on a part‑time basis, working Monday to Friday.
