Job summary

NHS Fife Switchboard at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, is seeking a Telephonist to join our team. The role involves handling calls on a computerised Switchboard, responding to queries, paging requests and emergency calls, and monitoring alarms with support for NHS staff and the public.

Applicants should have good English and arithmetic, strong typing skills, and the ability to work independently within a team, with excellent communication and organisational abilities. Training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Educated to Standard Grade with passes in English & Arithmetic.
• Excellent keyboard/typing skills and the ability to work on your own initiative.
• Strong organisational and listening skills with clear English communication.

Responsibilities

• Use a computerised Switchboard to handle calls and respond to queries.
• Handle calls from internal and external callers and respond to pager requests.
• Respond to emergency calls and monitor alarms; provide advice on telephony services.
• Work as part of the Switchboard team and support NHS staff and the public.
