AGH Solutions Ltd. seeks a Switchboard Operator to provide a 24/7 call handling service in a busy hospital setting, delivering friendly and professional assistance to callers.

You will manage internal paging systems, update databases, respond to emergencies, log maintenance requests, and work as part of a small Estates/Control Room team to keep operations running smoothly. The role emphasizes empathy, calm communication, and reliable teamwork in a high-pressure environment.

Responsibilities

• Handle all calls and communications 24/7 in a busy hospital environment, maintaining a friendly and professional service.
• Operate and update internal bleep and long-range pager systems; update call databases and the telephone directory.
• Respond to routine and non-routine emergency calls and notify relevant teams for urgent events.
• Notify teams for fire alarms and security alarms.
• Log urgent maintenance and pest control requests via the estates helpdesk 24/7.
• Work in a small team providing caller support with empathy, remaining calm under pressure.
• Switchboard team ensures 24/7 call handling within a control room operator environment.

Job description

To provide a Switchboard Operator service 24/7 in handling all calls and communication within a busy hospital, healthcare setting ensuring a continued friendly and professional service in an at times busy environment., To handle and manage all calls both internal and external within the hospital ensuring prompt and courteous service.

To operate and update when required internal bleep and long range pager systems (training provided) and updating information where required with the call databases and telephone directory.

To respond and ensure routine and nonroutine emergency calls are answered and relevant teams are communicated to attend any urgent events.

To respond and notify the correct teams for any fire alarm activations and security alarms.

To log all urgent maintenance and pest control requests via our estates helpdesk 24/7

To be able to work in a small team offering support to callers and at times having empathy and sympathy and remaining calm in handling some calls in a busy pressured environment.

The Switchboard team are a small team working together to ensure the 24/7 provision of a call handling environment within a control room Operator environment
