Are you passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of young people?

We are looking for a dedicated and empathetic Youth Support Worker to support young individuals aged 16-18 year-olds. In this role, you will provide practical and emotional support, helping young people develop essential life skills, build confidence, and navigate the challenges of transitioning into adulthood. You will play a vital role in their journey towards independence by offering guidance, encouragement, and access to resources that support their overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing Individualised Support: Build strong, trusting relationships with young people, offering emotional and practical support to help them achieve personal and developmental goals.
  • Promoting Independence: Support young people in developing essential life skills such as budgeting, cooking, personal hygiene, and time management to prepare them for independent living.
  • Educational and Employment Guidance: Encourage and assist young people in accessing education, training, and employment opportunities, helping them to set and achieve realistic career goals.
  • Encouraging Positive Social Behaviour: Foster a positive environment where young people feel empowered to build relationships, improve communication skills, and engage in healthy social interactions.
  • Safeguarding and Well-being: Ensure the safety and welfare of young people by following safeguarding procedures, identifying risks, and implementing strategies to protect them from harm.
  • Crisis Intervention: Respond effectively to challenging situations, providing immediate support and liaising with relevant professionals when necessary.
  • Advocacy and Networking: Work collaboratively with social services, healthcare professionals, educational institutions, and other agencies to ensure young people receive the support they need.
  • Maintaining Accurate Records: Keep detailed records of interactions and progress, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Encouraging Engagement: Plan and facilitate recreational and educational activities that promote personal growth, resilience, and social inclusion.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Proven experience working with young people in a support, mentoring, or social care capacity.
  • A strong understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable young people, including those with complex needs, mental health challenges, and behavioural difficulties.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive, compassionate, and non-judgmental approach to supporting young people.
  • Relevant qualifications in youth work, social care, psychology, or related fields (desirable but not essential).
  • A valid driving license (preferred).
