Overview

Are you calm under pressure, confident in your communication, and passionate about making a real difference? We’re looking for a dedicated Male Support Worker to join our team in B17, supporting a fantastic gentleman in his 30s with learning disabilities, autism, and epilepsy.

Who Will You Be Supporting?

You’ll be supporting one gentleman who lives with autism, a learning disability, and epilepsy (currently experiencing well-managed absence seizures). He is full of personality, has a great sense of humour, and enjoys a structured, routine-driven lifestyle. His family is very involved—his mum regularly calls, and his dad helps with the garden and car.

He enjoys:

  • Walks to the shop, feeding ducks, and relaxing in the park
  • Caverny meals out and sensory room sessions
  • Trying new things like swimming, cinema trips, and even the safari park
  • Laughing and joking with his team—he thrives on positive, consistent support
What Will You Be Doing?

This is a 2:1 support role at all times, with long day shifts and sleep-ins. You’ll be:

  • Providing Personal Care: Supporting with all aspects of daily living
  • Promoting Independence: Encouraging him to try new activities and build confidence
  • Supporting Communication: Understanding and responding to expressions, gestures, and behaviours
  • Managing Health Needs: Administering medication and monitoring for seizure activity
  • Engaging in Activities: From sensory play to community outings, you’ll help him enjoy life to the fullest
  • Being Present & Proactive: Spotting changes in behaviour, following routines, and being ready to adapt
Shift Patterns
  • Long Days: 7:00 AM – 10:00 PM
  • Sleep-In Shifts: 10:00 PM – 7:00 AM (Paid to sleep)

Rotas are provided in advance to support a healthy work-life balance.

What Are We Looking For?

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Routine-Driven & Calm: Able to follow clear instructions and maintain structure
  • Attentive & Observant: Alert to changes in behaviour and confident in managing them
  • Encouraging & Supportive: Willing to try new things and help him explore new interests
  • Confident Communicator: Speaks clearly and calmly, with strong verbal skills
  • Team-Oriented: Works well with others and is confident to raise concerns when needed
  • Comfortable in Water: Must be happy to support swimming activities

Positive Behaviour Support training is provided, and you’ll be supported every step of the way.
