Overview

The Fishermen’s Mission is a Christian charity that provides emergency and welfare assistance to active and former commercial fishermen and their families, through practical, financial and pastoral support. Every year we help thousands of clients, many in desperate circumstances.

Role Summary

Supporting the Area Officer, the Support Officer will provide welfare and pastoral support to those in need in the fishing communities of Devon. This will be undertaken through a combination of digital and in-person support.

Responsibilities
  • To provide support to clients of the Fishermen’s Mission by assessing their welfare needs, completing applications, providing sign posting recommendations and completing referrals. This will be undertaken through a combination of digital and in-person support.
  • To support the Area Manager in the development and maintenance of positive links with key statutory and voluntary sector organisations across the region, promoting awareness of the Fishermen’s Mission and developing potential routes to further support our clients.
  • To support community fundraising activities across the area which will include some evening and weekend work.
