Night Shift Supervisor
Colchester, Essex - Temp to Perm Opportunity

Our client, a leading food processing company based in Colchester, Essex, is seeking a Night Shift Supervisor to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced supervisor to take on a key role in ensuring smooth production operations and supporting a dedicated workforce.

Overview

Role overview and purpose: to oversee night shift production, ensure GMPs and quality standards are met, and support a proactive, trained, and compliant team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and coordinate production line operations within the packhouse.
  • Ensure all team members are appropriately trained (both new and existing staff).
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and daily cleaning protocols.
  • Monitor production performance and report to the Packhouse Manager.
  • Complete and review all documentation accurately; identify additional training needs.
  • Conduct competency assessments and documentation reviews.
  • Uphold quality assurance standards to meet customer requirements.
  • Provide hands-on support on the shop floor, assisting with training and compliance.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) are followed.
  • Communicate effectively with all departments.
  • Identify and recommend staff for promotion.
  • Actively participate in meetings (H&S, Food Safety, Quality, Production Efficiency, etc.).
  • Suggest and support process and system improvements.
  • Follow all Health & Safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Assist with audits and production projects as required.
Shift Pattern
  • Monday - Thursday, 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM
  • One hour of breaks per shift (30 minutes paid, 30 minutes unpaid).
  • Optional extra weekend shift (Saturday/Sunday, 7:00 AM - 2:00 PM) paid at overtime rate.
Pay & Benefits
  • Basic pay: £17.10 per hour
  • Overtime pay: £21.37 per hour
  • Holiday entitlement: 22 days (inclusive of bank holidays)
