Job summary

Veolia Greenwich is seeking a Site Supervisor to oversee waste operations at HWRC, Transfer Station and RDF, ensuring EA Permit compliance and safe, efficient operations.

You will supervise at least 18 staff, lead by example, and deputise for the Operations Manager during absence. The role requires strong health and safety knowledge and experience in waste management, with a focus on recycling and recovery of materials.

Qualifications

• Health and Safety knowledge and experience are essential.
• Supervisory experience is essential.
• Environmental knowledge and experience are essential.
• Desirable: CoTC in Waste Management Operations.
• IOSH certification is desirable.
• First Aid training is desirable.
• Experience within the waste management industry in a supervisory role, with knowledge of RDF/MRF/PRF/MBT processes.

Responsibilities

• Ensure operations are in compliance with the EA Permit.
• Supervise waste operations at HWRC, Transfer Station and RDF.
• Supervise at least 18 employees across RDF, HWRC and Transfer Station.
• Ensure the site has competent operational staff.
• Lead and train staff on site and act as deputy for Operations Manager during leave.
• Maintain clear communication between team members and build relationships with customers and colleagues.
• Ensure staff are fully trained and identify training needs.
• Maximise and utilise fixed and mobile plant on site.
• Ensure materials at HWRC and Transfer Stations are recycled and recovered as much as possible.
• Report any defects or damages promptly.
