Job summary

Veolia Greenwich IWF is looking for an experienced supervisor to lead waste operations at the HWRC, Transfer Station and RDF in London. You will ensure EA Permit compliance and manage a team across shifts.

The role requires health and safety knowledge, supervisory experience, environmental understanding, and hands-on work with RDF/MRF/PRF/MBT processes. Veolia offers development and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Health and safety knowledge and experience.
• Supervisory experience in a waste/industrial setting.
• Environmental knowledge and experience.
• Yellow Plant experience (shovel, 360).
• First Aid trained.
• Experience with RDF/MRF/PRF/MBT processes.

Responsibilities

• Ensure operations comply with the EA Permit.
• Supervise waste operations at HWRC, Transfer Station and RDF.
• Supervise at least 18 employees on RDF/HWRC/Transfer Station.
• Ensure the site has competent operational staff.
• Lead and train by example whilst on site.
• Act as deputy for the Operations Manager during absences.
• Ensure clear communication between team members.
• Build relationships with customers and colleagues.
• Ensure staff are fully trained and identify training needs.
• Maximise and utilise fixed and mobile plant on site.
• Ensure materials at HWRC and Transfer Stations are recycled/recovered.
• Report defects or damages.

Location - Veolia Greenwich IWF, Nathan Way, Plumstead Marsh, Thamesmead, London, SE28 0AF

Hours - Shift 4 days on 2 days off, 07:00 to 17:30

• Ensure staff are fully trained and identify areas of training needed.
• Maximise and utilise the fixed and mobile plant on site.
• Ensure the materials at the HWRC and the Transfer Stations are recycled and recovered as much as possible.
• Ensure any defects or damages are reported.

What we are looking for;

• Health and Safety Knowledge and Experience.
• Supervisory experience.
• Environmental Knowledge and Experience.
• Yellow Plant experience (shovel, 360)
• CoTC (Certificate of Technical Competence) in Waste Management Operations.
• IOSH.
• First Aid Trained.
• Experience within the waste management industry in a supervisory role, with particular experience of treatment processes, (RDF/MRF/PRF/MBT).
