Job summary

Veolia ES (UK) Limited is seeking a Site Supervisor for the Greenwich area. The role involves supervising waste operations at multiple facilities and ensuring compliance with regulatory permits, while leading a team of operatives to deliver safe, efficient operations.

You will oversee training, staff development, and maintain strong communication with customers and internal teams, contributing to Veolia’s commitment to sustainable resource management and community service.

Qualifications

• Health and Safety knowledge and experience required.
• Supervisory experience is essential.
• Environmental knowledge and experience preferred.
• Yellow Plant experience (shovel, 360) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Ensure operations comply with EA Permit conditions.
• Supervise waste operations at HWRC, Transfer Station and RDF.
• Supervise at least 18 employees across sites.
• Ensure staffed site has competent operational staff.
• Lead and train on site and act as deputy for Operations Manager during leave.
• Maintain clear communication between team members.
• Build relationships with customers and colleagues.
• Identify training needs and ensure staff are trained.

What you’ll be doing

• Ensure the operations are in compliance with the conditions of the EA Permit.
• Supervision of waste operations at the HWRC, Transfer Station and RDF.
• Supervision of at least 18 employees on the RDF, HWRC and Transfer Station.
• Ensure the site has competent operational staff.
• Lead and train by example whilst on site.
• Act as deputy for the Operations Manager during annual leave or other absence.
• Ensure clear communication between team members.
• Build relationships with customers and colleagues.
• Ensure staff are fully trained and identify areas of training needed.
• Maximise and utilise the fixed and mobile plant on site.
• Ensure the materials at the HWRC and the Transfer Stations are recycled and recovered as much as possible.
• Ensure any defects or damages are reported.

What we are looking for

Essential:

• Health and Safety Knowledge and Experience.
• Supervisory experience.
• Environmental Knowledge and Experience.
• Yellow Plant experience (shovel, 360)

Desirable:

• CoTC (Certificate of Technical Competence) in Waste Management Operations.
• IOSH.
• First Aid Trained.
• Experience within the waste management industry in a supervisory role, with particular experience of treatment processes, (RDF/MRF/PRF/MBT).
