SUPERVISING SOCIAL WORKER

An exceptional opportunity has arisen within a highly regarded Independent Fostering Agency (IFA) that boasts an "Outstanding" rating from Ofsted. This agency is actively seeking dedicated Qualified Social Workers for permanent, full-time positions as Supervising Social Workers in the West Midlands. This role is a perfect fit for a professional seeking a genuinely supportive environment where professional well-being is prioritised through manageable caseloads and superior specialist resources.

WHAT THE AGENCY OFFERS:

The role is strategically designed to offer a balanced workload and high-quality support mechanisms:

  • EXCEPTIONAL SPECIALIST SUPPORT: The agency is known for its strong support mechanisms such as:

    • Behaviour Specialists - offer support and guidance to carers who are experiencing difficulties in managing challenging behaviours displayed & provide specialist training.

    • Health Professionals - involved in monitoring health needs and providing training on child health and development.

    • Educational Advisors - promote achievement, attainment, and stability in educational placement.

    • Support Workers - who provide emotional and practical help to children and carers, including direct 1:1 work, activities, and assistance with transport.

  • HYBRID & FLEXIBLE WORKING: The role offers a hybrid pattern, requiring only one office-based day per week.

  • FOCUS ON SUPERVISION: Supervising Social Workers are not required to handle Form F assessments or incoming referrals, as these are managed by separate, external teams. The core focus remains on providing monthly supervision to a manageable caseload.

REWARD & REMUNERATION

The agency offers a competitive package that recognises the value of experienced social work practice:

  • Competitive Salary: £39k

  • Generous Car Allowance: £3,400

  • Generous Annual Leave: 30 days & 8 Bank Holidays.

  • Enhanced OOH Pay: Out-of-hours (OOH) duty operates over the phone, typically 2-3 days a month. Pay is £25 for weekdays and £50 for weekends, doubled on a bank holiday.

  • Additional Benefits: A Pension Scheme, HCPC reimbursement, and excellent Private Health Care options are available after a qualifying period.

THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Supervising Social Worker is responsible for providing intensive support to foster carers to enable them to provide the very best quality of care to vulnerable children.

  • Core Duties: Providing monthly supervision, undertaking planned and unannounced visits to children in placement, and formulating training and development plans for carers.

  • Statutory Compliance: The role requires working in accordance with the Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011 and the Fostering Services National Minimum Standards 2011.

  • Duty Commitment: The post holder will be part of a duty rota (usually 2-3 times a month) to support the running of the service both within and outside of normal office hours.

  • Team Culture: The team is described as having no 'cliques' and collaborates effectively, especially when managing increased workloads.
