Job description

Substance Misuse Nurse - Birmingham Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for a Substance Misuse Nurse to join one of our clients in Birmingham.

Pay Rate: £30 Ltd per hour
Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Contract Type: Temporary (approximately 2 months) with the potential for extension
Start Date: Immediate

Role Overview

You will deliver high-quality clinical care to individuals accessing substance misuse services. This includes conducting assessments, supporting detoxification processes, and promoting health and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake physical and mental health assessments and ensure appropriate referrals to primary or secondary healthcare services.
  • Complete alcohol assessments in line with CGL Alcohol Policy to determine safe detoxification requirements.
  • Assist in opioid titration to achieve optimal OST dosing, liaising with team members and community pharmacists.
  • Provide education, health promotion, and screening for blood-borne viruses (BBVs), including Hepatitis A/B vaccinations.
  • Work within integrated care pathways for individuals infected with BBVs (Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV).
  • Undertake community alcohol and opioid detoxification at the service or in the service user’s home.
  • Perform phlebotomy, interpret blood results, and use findings to guide treatment decisions and referrals.
  • Refer for specialist inpatient services when required and liaise with hospital teams.
