A prominent broadcasting organization is seeking a Studio Output Editor for its flagship show, with a focus on leading live studio teams and planning engaging content. The ideal candidate must have extensive live TV experience, a strong journalistic background, and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure. This role is based in Manchester with a shift rota from 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM, starting January 5, 2026.
As Output Editor you will understand and develop the show's characteristics and identity; maintaining the independence and integrity of the output and ensuring that it meets BBC editorial policy standards and can sustain public, legal and media scrutiny.
The successful candidate will have an excellent journalistic track record at senior editorial level, having edited or series produced impactful, topical, live programmes. They will have a deep understanding of changing audience habits and the creative ability to make sure every show is unmissable. They will know exactly what matters to our audience and help us to deliver engaging content which is talked about for all the right reasons.
The Output Editor role combines taking the lead of the live studio and gallery team, with content planning and talent‑driven ideas and strands. They will be thoroughly familiar with legal, compliance and editorial guidelines and will have the confidence and authority to make on‑the‑spot decisions during the fast‑paced live show. This is a senior role and requires the successful candidate to have an abundance of live TV output experience, preferably in news or current affairs. They will report into the Studio Series Editor.
Position: Studio Output Editor for BBC 1's flagship daytime show Morning Live (start 5 January 2026). Location: Manchester studio.
Shift rota: live gallery shifts from 0500 to 1200.
