Job summary

The Westwood Academy in Coventry seeks a committed Pastoral Support Assistant to join our pastoral team on a term-time only basis. You will report to the Deputy and collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team, DSL and teaching staff to support student wellbeing, attendance and safeguarding.

The post focuses on supporting KS3 or KS4, providing first-line pastoral support and acting as a link between school, families and external agencies. Driving licence is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-line pastoral support to students, addressing personal, social, developmental and behavioural needs.
• Support students to identify barriers to learning and develop strategies to achieve their full potential.
• Work closely with Heads of Year, SLT and teaching staff to respond to student issues and concerns.
• Contribute to maintaining high standards of behaviour, attendance and punctuality.
• Provide daily support to the Attendance team, including data input, liaison with parents/carers and conducting safe and well visits where required.
• Act as a key link between the school, parents/carers and external agencies to ensure coordinated support for students.
• Support and lead early help processes for identified students within a key stage.
• Respond to requests for in-lesson support and undertake on-call duties as directed.
• Contribute to a strong culture of safeguarding, ensuring all concerns are identified, recorded and reported appropriately.
• Support the school in fulfilling its statutory duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
